There is no shortage of valuable and informative resources available at our centres to assist you in your work search and career-planning activities.
Job Postings:
We update our job postings daily from the Service Canada Job Bank (for the Kamloops area only), and also post jobs for some of the major employers in Kamloops, such as BC Lottery Corporation, TRU, Interior Health, City of Kamloops, and School District #73. We also post jobs that are exclusive to our centres as phoned or faxed-in by local employers. Please visit one of our centres in person to view all of our job postings.
Newspapers:
We subscribe to a number of Canadian newspapers (primarily from BC and Alberta) and update our newspaper shelf daily (although not all papers are daily papers). Some of the newspapers we carry include:
Industry Information:
We have compiled a number of resources on various industries, including Construction Trades, Tourism, Seasonal Employment, and Oil & Gas. We also have a number of published books and information on various industries at our centres.
Client Information Packages and Handouts:
We have developed a number of information packages and handouts for clients to help them in their work search. Copies of these handouts can be acquired at our centres. They are free of charge and can also be down-loaded in PDF form from this website. Some of our titles include:
Books and Publications:
We have an extensive library of books and other special publications to help you in your work search. Topics include resumes, cover letters, career portfolios, career planning strategies, networking, and self-employment. Special publications include the National Occupational Classification (NOC), Guide to the BC Economy, and BC Work Futures, BC LMI Reports, and the 2007 BC Job Search Guide.

The Kamloops Work Search Centres offer a variety of workshops to assist you with your career planning and work search.
Below is the latest monthly calendar of workshops offered at each centre as well as a description of the job-search focused workshops that can be accessed without a referral from an Employment Advisor.
This workshop will cover how to prepare a professional resume that reflects your skills, knowledge and education that are relevant to the job you are seeking. Participants will come away from the workshop with a solid foundation on how to develop a resume.
This workshop provides information and practice on producing an effective cover letter. The goal is to make it easier for participants to write a specific and targeted cover letter in the future.
This workshop is designed to give participants the tools to prepare for their next employment interview. We will cover everything from how to prepare in advance, how to answer questions during the interview, to what to do afterwards.

Come and find out what it is; why it is a great information gathering activity, and step-by-step how to!
Informational interviews can help you gather information to focus your job search, identify transferrable skills, make some career decisions, and set career direction. There will be plenty of time to work on your own interview questions and telephone script. This is an active workshop that will provide you with all the information and tools necessary to prepare you to conduct successful informational interviews.
