Meet With Us!

Welcome to the Kamloops Work Search Centres!

We look forward to working with you.

If you would like to meet with an Employment Advisor at our centres, we ask that you first attend one of our Information Sessions.  We offer sessions every day of the week at one of our two centres.  Attending an Information Session does not obligate you to make a one-to-one appointment, but the session will provide you with more in-depth information about our centres and services to help you decide if our Assisted Services can help you.  You can fill-in the necessary registration forms and book an appointment immediately after you attend the Information Session if you choose.  Be prepared to spend approximately one hour for both the Information Session and the time necessary to fill-in our registration form.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. If I choose to make an appointment after attending an Information Session, who will I meet with?
Your initial appointment will be with an Employment Advisor at the centre you choose to access (North Kamloops or South Kamloops)

2. What does an Employment Advisor do?
Employment Advisors are skilled career and job search professionals with experience and education in the field.  They provide one-to-one appointments and follow up support in the areas of career exploration, skill enhancement, job search and job maintenance.  They can also do referrals to workshops, community programs and skill assessments (depending on circumstances, individual needs and employment goals).

3. How long will my first appointment be?
We ask that you plan on being in your appointment for 30 to 60 minutes.

4. What paperwork will I be asked to fill out?
You will be asked to complete a Client Information Form, which collects your contact information and other information related to your employment history.  You will also be asked to complete a Consent Form, which outlines the Centre’s confidentiality policies.

5. What should I bring with me?
A copy of your resume, cover letter(s), reference letters, certificates… the more information the better!  If you have been on Employment Insurance (EI) recently, your Employment Advisor may ask for verification.  This information can be viewed on-line in the Centre.  Ask at the Reception Counter for more information.

6. Can I bring a friend/support person into the appointment with me?
You are welcome to bring a support person into the appointment with you if you choose; however, we remind you that one-to-one appointments are intended to be confidential so please ensure if you do bring anyone that you will be comfortable discussing your situation with your support person present.

7. Will I be called to confirm my appointment?
You will receive a phone call confirming your appointment time and date unless the appointment was scheduled the day before.  If you prefer to not have a reminder phone call, please let us know.

8. What if I can’t make the scheduled appointment time?
We understand that “life happens” and should you not be able to make your scheduled appointment time, please contact the Centre to re-schedule, no later than the day before your scheduled appointment.  A message can be left at the Centres:  North Kamloops (250) 376-3111, South Kamloops (250) 372-3803.
